Well, depending on where you’re reading this from, you may have heard that my little corner of the world has made the news for getting just a little snow. We’re on track to have one of the snowiest winters on record…ever! As a result, I’ve kept my sojourning to restaurants to a minimum of late. It’s also the post-Christmas time of year where money is tight, and as such, enhanced frugality is in full effect. That’s no excuse I know, but it is what it is. Anywho….

Over the last couple of weeks, I haven’t had the opportunity to visit my parent’s home for Sunday dinner, and as such I had to seek out alternative arrangements. I’m not the kind to have a crockpot going at home, maybe I should be, but I’m not, at this time anyway. I therefore pulled into O’Charley’s for Sunday Brunch. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve participated in a traditional Sunday Brunch in my entire life, and since I don’t drink anything alcoholic, it’s quite the entertaining experience. Part of the fun of Brunch is that you can have some truly delicious foods that are typically reserved for breakfast. It’s also a very casual meal experience versus the more traditional mid-day meal on the Sundays of old.

I sat down at the bar, where all drinks that are non-alcoholic are complimentary, and I looked through the menu. I can’t make waffles myself at home, so I typically will lean in that direction if Breakfast is the food selection at hand. In this particular case, I chose the Southern Pecan Waffle Combo (the combo plate also comes with two eggs prepared as you like, along with a choice of either Ham or Bacon, and finally a few pieces of fresh fruit). I chose to have my eggs over hard, I don’t care for runny yolks personally, and I chose Bacon because, Bacon. For a beverage, I ordered water with lemon, and a Caramel Macchiatto. The waitress asked if I wanted anything in my Macchiato, to make it an “Irish” Caramel Macchiatto for example, but I declined this option. My beverages and food arrived quickly, as is typical of O’Charley’s on any day really, and everything looked delightful. The plating was quite attractive, and everything was piping hot. I added a little syrup to the waffles, and I added a little Tabasco sauce and ketchup to my eggs. Everything tasted as good as it smelled, and before long, it was all over.

I relaxed for little while, sipping at my coffee, and eventually I paid my tab and headed out. It was a wonderful experience that I hope to repeat one of these days. Even though O’Charley’s is a chain, nothing is done halfway; it’s all good there. I’ve not had a bad meal yet, and you can now order meals for take out. I highly recommend a visit to an O’Charley’s near you!

I know, I know, it’s been quite a while since I posted last.
